browsing my Apple Thesaurus, i found a picture of a half-height 5.25" floppy
drive, manufactured by Qume, that has a black face and appears to be of a
standard design. except for not being 100% ALPS-compatible, this seems like
a perfect drive to use for towerizing Apple IIs! the ALPS drives can't fit
in a tower, due to the strange drive door that pops in and up, instead of
using a front latch.
is there some way to find and purchase these Qume drives today? what other
5.25" drives could be used?
