You're in the same boat I was a few weeks ago. The answer is as follows:
a) Build a serial cable (Old AT Keyboards are a great source of prewired 5
pin din sockets)
b) Transfer DOS over to the Apple2, the instructions in the file
DOS33DMP.ZIP worked for me (The Apple2 FAQ has information on where to find
this) The End of line pause is CRITICAL it didn't work for me without it.
c) Format your floppy
d) Reboot
e) Use adt122 to transfer over a version of dos you want (The Apple2 FAQ has
information on this)
It's important to use LOW DENSITY 5 1/4 disks the high density ones I tried
first failed miserably. I had to rummage around until I found a VGA card
driver disk from 1990 to make it work. Low density floppies usually have
reinforcing ring around the hole in middle of the disk. (You may have
problems with ADT at high speeds with the original //c hardware but you
should be able to get a basic boot disk as that is done at 300bps)
BTW does anyone have the original prodos "demo" disk for a //c? I remember
bootlegging it when I worked in a dealers to have a play with prodos on my
//e but it looked wrong 'cos there was no mousetext.
