What become known as MS-DOS was developed by a small outfit called,IIRC,
Seattle Computing. I remember reading an interview with one of the SC people
who stated thier goal was to develop a cp/m-like system for 16-bit computers.
Then M$ swooped in, bought them them out, and the rest is history.
