If that was meant to be a question (sorry, I could not fully understand
the meaning of your sentence.), the answer is: yes, in a certain way. 4
consecutive bits taken from both main and aux memory form one pixel.

Sorry, but could you, please, add why you hate it? What do you think is wrong
with it?

What do you mean by that? How can 320x280 look like "real" 560x192?
(Which standard PC screen mode do you use for a resolution of 320x280?)

May I ask you, which emulator project are you refering to? Is there a
homepage for this?

Are you sure that it will look nicer? AFAIK, most of the programs I know of
so far do expect a resolution of 560x192, otherwise they won't work. For
example, have a look at the game "Pirates". The characters on screen become
totally illegible when seen under a resolution less than 560x192. Other
examples would be "Test Drive", or "Dragon Wars" (i.e. every program that
writes characters to the screen).
My question therefore is: Even if you have a new emulator that offers a new
screen resolution mode for the AppleII, you will not have the programs that
make use of it. So, where is the point? You may dislike the double hires
resolution, okay, but after all this is how the AppleII was designed.
