I can think of several ways.
1. Get the Mac OS on CD, connect the CD drive to your Mac, start the Mac
while holding down the "C" key to boot from the CD. Now you can erase the
hard disk and install the OS version you want.
2. Download the Mac OS files from Apple for free. That'll keep you busy for
a while. ;-)
Attach an external SCSI hard disk (80 megs will do) and install the files to
that ( I think they are self-mounting disk images). Then select it as the
boot device using the "Startup" control panel. Erase the internal hard disk,
reinstall or copy the contents of the boot drive over by dragging and
dropping the folders.
I've never tried to install an older OS over a newer one. Don't know what
would happen.
