Re: Apple II 3.5" disks transfer to PC
Wow, so much info, I almost couldn't take it all in. My fav
method of transfer is Zip disks. You can fit 90+ meg on
them and if you format them using HFS, you can read them on GS/OS in ][gs
and Mac and if you have
HFVExplorer or TransMac on PC you can read them
there as well. I haven't read one on the ][gs, but I assume
that if you have the hfs.fst installed you should be able to
see them on the desktop. The only thing is, you can't use
the SCSI Zip drive on the PC without a SCSI controller,
and you can't use a parallel one on the Mac or ][gs.
However, once you get one on the PC you only need one
more to move from Mac to ][gs and back again. If you
have Zip drives give it a go. It works great for me. I have
everything I ever installed on the Mac on one formatted
disk. I only have like 15 140k's and 20 800's on the II so
it isn't an issue but try it.
Getting to that hard drive problem. First it must have terminator resistor
packs installed or an external passive
terminator installed in the spare port. Second, if it doesn't
have Apple Rom it might not be able to run on a Mac at
all. I have run into this only twice, but there are many that
can run on a Mac. Quantum is a good brand for Mac.
That is just about all I have to offer at this time, but I'm
always here to help if I can. Good Luck.
