This newsgroup is not for the Apple Macintosh series. Please post future
messages about the Macintosh on the comp.sys.mac.* sites.
The drive needed for the Quadra 950 is an auto-eject drive, used on the Mac
SE FDHD, SE/30, and later models. If you see a disk drive with a black disk
shutter, don't get it because that's a manual inject model, and it's made
for the Mac Quadra series and later models. Also, don't get the drive that
came with the Macintosh 128, 512, Plus, or II because those were low-density
drives. Another name for the drive you're looking for is "SuperDrive",
however it's unfortunate that Apple re-used this term and now references the
CDRW drives that are now shipping with the iMac and G4's.
