    (speed things up) by pressing ESC (or some other key, or key-
    -stroke combo) to get it to boot `normally'?  I know I can do
    this with my Rocket Chip IIe - so I'm assuming that something
    similar can be done during the boot process with a zip chip...

    Perhaps this should be checked-out before giving up on the zip
    chip entirely.  And what about re-seating the chip? Or even
    checking all the chips, including the RAM chips?  Chip creep
    may be part of the problem.  Good luck on your quest to get
    the system up and running.
