Re: Need 3.5" ProDOS Bootables for //c+
Roy:
I did say 'for the most part'. I have several utilities that allow the
use of larger media for DOS 3.3. Natively the DOS handles up to a 400k
volume, but most programs that run off of 5.35" diskettes do not support
that model. Way too many commercial programs require track sector
access and do not use the DOS calls to handle files.
Take The Print Shop as the best/worse example. It manually reads track
11, sectors F through 1 when cataloging a disk. If it did what it was
supposed to, one could list a larger volume with all those graphic
files. Technically it does load files properly so you can use an
extended catalog to store extra files, but it will only list the files
in the 'normal' 5.25" disk catalog sectors. (Of course there is a patch
in a back issue of Computist to fix this too.) On top of that, The
Print Shop's DOS has not been patched to recognize anything other than
5.25" disks. Which is really too bad. I once tried to move the program
to a different disk and the program could not run. :( (I'd still like
PS on a 3.5" diskette with all those graphics.)
But I digress.

Ed, you know very well that DOS 3.3 can work on 400K 3.5" disks. One of
