In fact, does anyone know of a word processor for the Apple II that doesn't
store the text in trivially modified form? (Occasional interspersed formatting
characters or high bits set don't do much to make a file unreadable.)
In general, word processor files are not very difficult to extract text from,
regardless of operating system or word processor.
(In fact, several word processors, notably Microsoft Word, store _deleted_
text in their document files, unless specifically instructed not to do so.
This text is easily readable by opening the .doc file as a text file and
ignoring the gibberish.)
