I don't think so, considering most commercial software was supplied on
"flippy" disks and seems to have lasted well so far! I do remember
arguments about flipping a disk to use the second side, which said that
the disk liner would be wiping in the wrong direction, but then they
probably came from people selling the special flip-over disks.
