Greetings all,
I recently purchased an Apple IIgs on eBay, and while i still have some of
the fun software from my high school days, there is a lot that i no longer
have. However, i have found several titles on the web. Problem is, i
don't know how to get them into a disk that the IIgs can read.
Specs of the Apple IIgs:
ROM 1 edition
3 1/2" disk drive (2 of these actually)
5 1/4" disk drive
A System Disk that came with the machine: Apple IIgs System Disk v1.1
The system disk runs some sort of launcher which i am unaccustomed to (is
there one of these with a Finder like my Tetris disk?), but when i try to
run any apps, my IIgs goes back to the blue screen with a bunch of
numbers/letters followed by a '*' prompt at which point i don't know what
to do.
I remember the ']' in high school, but since i didn't have my own machine,
never figured out how to deal with the '*' prompt.
Ok, sorry to get off topic, but if anyone can offer assistance, it
would be appreciated. =^)
The possible computers i could use to get software into the IIgs follow...
i have a Macintosh IIsi running System 7.6.1, a Mac Classic running System
6.0.8, a PowerBook 2400c running OS 8.6, and an iBook dual booting to OS
9.1 and OS X.1. I also have a PC that dual boots into Windows 95 and
Windows XP.
Can i transfer files to a 800K disk to insert into the Apple IIgs and then
transfer from that disk these files (Sargon, Repton, Aztec) to the 5 1/4"
disks... or can they be played off the 3 1/2" drive? I'm afraid i don't
even remember how to create a ProDOS file system on a old style floppy
through the (for the sake of ignorance i'm going to call it this:)
AppleSoft ']' prompt?
I know there are a lot of questions, and several have probably been
addressed in the past, but i'd appreciate any help that is offered. I'm
eager to get this gem rocking and rolling again!
Thanks!
