What do you mean "was"? OS-9 is still available from Microware :)

It now runs on a whole bunch of different processor families, but no 
longer on the 6809.

Back in 1999 Microware sued Apple for using the name Mac OS 9, claiming 
it would cause confusion with Microware's OS-9, but lost the case. It 
was pretty silly since OS-9 is only used for running industrial and 
embedded processors.
