As I recall, on the IIGS version of Kings Quest IV, the only copy
protection was that you were asked to look up a word in the manuel given a
page number. Same as what they used on Gold Rush.
All you have to do is copy everything except the /SYSTEM/ stuff on disk
one into the same folder on your hard drive. Combine the contents of the
data folders into one folder. The duplicate files are duplicates. You
don't need to copy the file ProDOS or the system folder, but everything
else does need to be copied.
As for the IIe version, I can't help you. I only ever saw the IIe version
of KQ3, and that one used nonstandard disks, even making you format a
nonstandard data disk to save the game. I doubt you can deprotect that and
install it on a hard drive.
