No apology necessary. I recognized that you were just being terse, not
sarcastic.
One month, the plans for the full-page color advertisement in Byte fell
through, so they ran an ad for the EPROM Programmer. This generated an
amazing amount of business for it. We started getting calls from people
that had bought the EPROM Programmer but now didn't know what to do with
it! You'd think people wouldn't buy such a thing if they didn't have a
use for it. One customer was so pissed off that he returned the package,
which now had bullet holes through the package and product.
At Apparat, I was also responsible for fixing some bugs in "The
Extender", a package of added commands for Applesoft BASIC, and for
porting a Pro Football Prediction program from the TRS-80 to the Apple
using Microsoft's TASC compiler. And I did tech support for the Apple
products, and occasionally was involved in the storefront sales.
For what it's worth, the software for the TRS-80 version of the EPROM
programmer was written by Gary Kushner, who might have written the
software for the IBM PC version as well.
