I used to see, early on (I got a //c back in 84 a month or two after it 
was released), press photos occasionally that showed this odd looking 
//c with the strange line length.  I believe it was a prototype and 
pictures must have gotten out for promotional reasons, before the final 
machine was put out.

It is indeed less attractive than the //c we all came to know and love.
