It is absolutely worth it to upgrade. AW 5.1 is rarely available for sale, and
I do not sell it. However, I have been upgrading people who can show that they
are legal owners of AppleWorks, any version. You get a backup copy, which is
the best we can do under the circumstances. 

The version I send you is also patched by me for a few bugs that were included
in the final release, plus a few Y2K issues.

If you are interested, please send e-mail and I will give you details.  It may
take some time. I travel a lot.

I am sure that this is the best board to ask this question, but I can't answer
it since I am not a Mac person at all. I briefly used Deja ][ with AppleWorks
5.1 on an SE30. Never printed at all. I am sure that others can help you with
the Apple II card.
