Re: Speeding up aTransWarp IIGS

Yup, that's it! You're dead on. BTW if there's a min order for any of the components I'd be interested in snagging some myself.

Hi,

I have a TransWarp IIGS with the 32K cache. Its ROM is V1.8S and it
is running at the standard 7MHz speed (at least that is what one CPU
test program is giving me under ProDOS). I have read that it is
possible to speed this card up even further.

Am I right in assuming that the only two items I need to purchase and
replace on this TransWarp IIGS card are:

ECS HALF SIZE CRYSTAL CLOCK OSCILLATOR dip-8 5v 64.0 mhz
ECS-2100A-64.0MHZ from http://www.mouser.com

and

W65C816S8PL-14 CPU from http://www.westerndesigncenter.com

With the two changes above, I should end up with a 16MHz TransWarp
IIGS, right?

If I purchase the 50MHz half size oscillator instead of the 64MHz
oscillator (just to be on the safe side), then the TransWarp card
should run at 12.5 MHz.

If I am missing some information (or even if the above is correct),
could somebody please confirm?

Thanks,

Giorgio
