Re: TransWarp GS repair questions

Hi guys,

I just wanted to add that the card is at least partially working, since the configuration menu works and the system runs fine when acceleration is turned off. I have been able to use the system with acceleration on, but it wasn't easy and it crashed almost immediately. By hitting option-control-reset at the failure screen, then entering the control panel with open apple-control-escape, then running the transwarp quick test (which it fails as described) from the transwarp menu, this test leaves the card enabled but the system in a partially booted state. If I exit the transwarp menu the system beeps and drops me to the monitor in a typical crash. If instead of exiting the menu I reboot with open apple-control-reset, I will sometimes return to the transwarp failure screen, but sometimes I will be dropped to an 80 column applesoft prompt with the transwarp enabled. When the system is in this state the speaker emits a highpitched whine. I tried booting a game from floppy in this state (Arkanoid 2) and the game started booting as normal, but then the system started looping, the gs/os loading screen would appear and the progress bar would start, then the screen would flash and the process would start over. I left it for 15 minutes this way and it just kept looping. What a mess this problem is! I hope this behavior might give someone some insight to the issue. Thanks again guys!
