Yep.  You're right.  I tried it and it only listed 1.44 meg formats instead
of all possible formats. They tried to make it too smart.  A Windows
machine could be forced to format at lower density.

Funny thing I had a disk formatted as 1.44 meg and putting the tape
over the hole fooled it into thinking the disk was unformatted.
It then did list only DSDD possible formats:  DOS 720K, Mac
800K and ProDOS 800K formats.

Well. The disk are rather difficult to find but I did find a few sites
on the Net that sell DSDD 3.5" disk still.  Not much brand selection
but the good thing is that they only run about $4 for a box of 10.
I lucked out recently and found a box of 100 at Goodwill for $2.50.
