Okay, here's the scoop. What's happened is some of my ancient disks
(mostly DOS 3.3) have finally gone bad, and I know some of the games
and applications are replaceable with disk images and files available
on the net. Now all I need is a way to get these onto single or
double density 5.25's or even 3.5's, but even after looking at the
csa2 FAQs, the logistics of this are driving me up the wall.
I have access to an Apple II+, IIe, and a Laser 128EX, as well as a
lab full of Cubes equipped with 3.5 drives. I also have two Disk IIs
and a Duodisk w/cards, and a Super Serial card. And a Win98 PC as
well. I have Copy II Plus, and maybe some other utilities. Also, I'm
not averse to acquiring some sort of 3.5 drive w/card for the II+ or
IIe if that's what's necessary for the simplest, quickest method.
So now, the big question: How can I make 5.25's and 3.5's from the
disk images and whatnot available on the web? My ultimate goal is
5.25's for my Apple II+/IIe systems. I'm pretty sure I've read enough
to know that my two basic options are some sort of 3.5-to-5.25
transfer (Mac/PC to Apple II) or a null-modem transfer. I can't
physically hook anything up to the Cubes since they're part of a
university computer lab and I don't have the authority to plug stuff
in at will. What would you recommend I do, and what utilities will I
have to obtain to do it? Details are very, very welcome.
