Yup. ;-) <technical info removed>I just popped the top from a spare GS. It looks as though there is already some shielding around the case. I don't know about the bottom though. The power supply also looks somewhat shielded. As you say, as an academic excercise wouldn't this suffice?
For the older machines I agree about needing complete coverage.To test the theory (nobody should do this at home unless they are a complete idiot) I suppose he could stick it in a microwave oven for a few seconds.
The thing is any radiation powerful enough to destroy the machine is sure to kill a person anyway. So, what's the point...
