Only happy to return the favour, this NG has helped me a lot more and
continues to do so.

I assume you've installed LocalTalk Bridge 2.1. Under the control panel for
LocalTalk Bridge set LocalTalk Bridge to On, and access to Public. That's
probably default anyway.
I found that I had to have LocalTalk in the Printer Port, the Modem Port
won't work with LocalTalk Bridge. Only found this out from a hint in this NG
and trial and error. My Printer is now in the Modem Port,
Under the AppleTalk control panel make sure it's set to Connect via
Ethernet. This is one mistake I made initially.

I would listen to Pidge's advise here as he seems to know how to set up
Win2k specifically, I have no idea, still running Win 98 and no plans to
update it.
Yes I am running PC MACLAN v7.2. There is a trial version available to
download with some restrictions I believe. Get it from:

AFAIK the User/Group setting on the Mac don't have anything to do with it,
only the ones on the PC or Computer you are trying to use as a file server,
and it sounds like you did that.

No vacation, it was a navigation exercise for work. And I got lost :)
Lesson: Don't ever use a GPS on a map thats out of date. Our map was about
250metres different from the GPS, which is accurate to 1M. I should have
stuck with the compass !
