An orange (or perhaps even yellow?) LED. I have a bag of these
that were used in assembling TMS Pro hardisk enclosures--square
shaped with a small flat end. There was already a wire attached so
no soldering was required.
I would have preferred a red colored LED, but this was the only
one I could find that threaded and squeezed inside the plastic tab
extension--pressed directly up against the bit of transparent plastic
that is the IIgs's power indicator. If placed just right--against the
flat end of the plastic--it glows strongly enough where it becomes
quite visible. The wire coming out is held in place with a bit of
tape, so it's completely reverseable.
Obviously you must remove the tab extension to insert the LED
first (there are three clips underneath to push, then it just pops
out. The middle one pushes in the opposite direction I recall).
I wasn't able to fit round LEDs, and my smaller red LEDs were
too weak to overpower the motherboard's green LED.
