OK. I got a cheap joystick from goodwill and used that with the converter
instead of the gampad and things seem to be working much better. The
calibration program is showing what it should. My X and Y axis has been
tuned and everything seem hunky dory till I start playing arcade games. Only
1/2 of the games work! On the 1/2 that don't work the joystick will only
move the character in two directions, Up and to the Left. Since the other
games work flawlessly I assume my joystick is functioning properly and its
the games themselves that are the problem.
With the money I spent building the converter I could have paid for TWO mint
apple II joysticks on E-bay. But I guess playing the games on a home made
joystick makes them just that much more fun. Who knows!
