Re: Arghhhh with PC--->Apple over Null Modem Cable

Marvin,

If you zip them on the PC how do you plan to unzip them on the GS. I have
not seen a program on the GS that can undo ".ZIP" files, but that's not to
say one doesn't exist.

Using a CDROM in ISO-9660 format is a method I have considered myself but
not tried yet. Burning a disk will only cost a couple of bucks these days,
so that would be the better alternative I think, and a lot faster. The GS
can read ISSO-9660 if the correct FST is installed, I think that's the
MSDOS.FST, but I'm not sure. Obviously you have a CDROM and SCSI card that
works on the GS.
Better still if you can burn a HFS format CD, it'd be even better. Although
I'm not aware of any PC software that can, I'm sure it exists. "Toast" on
the Mac can, but as you don't have a Mac, that's probably no help.

If you burn them on a CD, just put them as individual files, no need to
".ZIP" them all together.

If the HFS.FST is installed in System 6.0.1 it will work just like any other
drive, therefore a program that runs under System 6.0.1, like AWGS should
work. You should be able to de-compress files directly off the CD onto a
ProDOS or HFS partition or Floppy disk.
