If you need to meet the above requirements, then no program will help,
free of not.

  1) The largest ProDOS volume is 32Megs. The largest single file on a
ProDOS volume is 16Megs. So, no ProDOS volume will hold a 400MEG file .

  2) Using GS/OS on a IIGS with a HFS volume may work, but then you must
use a GS/OS program, not a P8-based program. Spectrum, commercial, is the
preferred program, but some PD/Freeware/Shareware programs like Snowterm
may work (Xmodem ?), very slowly ;-)

Consider breaking the file into logical parts on a PC and work with the
parts separately on the IIGS.

Consider using a Mac as a peripheral device to the IIGS. Xfer the file to
the Mac via Ethernet. Network the IIGS and Mac via Localtalk and use
personal file-sharing to bring the file to the IIGS via Appletalk; or work
with the file on the Mac by Appleshare.

(Localtalk can be as simple as an Imagewriter II printer cable connected
between the printer serial ports on the Mac and the IIGS.)

Remember, ProDOS and P8 programs can not handle a file as large as you
intend. Stick to GS/OS programs and HFS or file-sharing.

Good luck! A old Mac is a very useful IIGS peripheral. ;-)
