Problem with RAM

I read on a newsgroup post somewhere that I could use the DIP RAM from my XT
class PC in my 1MB Memory expansion card for my Apple IIGS.  I tried putting
it in, and although the control panel reconizes it, when I try to start the
finder, my computer screws up and starts beeping at me.

Was this info incorrect, or am I doing something wrong?  If this info was
incorrect, is there anyone willing to trade some GS RAM DIPs for about 70
RAM DIPs?
