--> You may recieve in your mail, occasionally, those little `booklets'
with deals on rug-cleaning, percentages off appliances, two-for-one
on who-knows-what, etc. One of those came in our mail about half a
decade ago. Not that we've not had plenty others before and after.
This particular one showed a skiing holiday at some resort in the
Rockies and offering *FUN* and money off of a package deal of some
sort. I didn't care as I firmly believe that if god had intended
me to ski, he would have given me long, flat, waxed feet. Anyway;
what I noticed, is that they had superimposed an image of Mickey
Mouse doing the skiing. This was for a Canadian resort. Someone
apparently wrote to Disney and informed them of this, including
the actual page from the `booklet'. That resort continues to do
it's advertising - to this day - but they no longer include any
Disney images. Qu'elle Surprise! All I'm saying, is that one
wouldn't think any one would be stupid enough to use a trademarked
and/or copywrited image to help them sell their own product. But,
it obviously does happen. As to Disney using `public' stories;
yes, they do - and they put their own spin on whatever particular
story they `do'. However, the stores are in the public domain,
due to many reasons, most commonly that of number of years past
the original writers' lifetime. If someone can prove that Disney
has taken a proprietary `product' (story) that still belongs to
a person, family or corporation - then, by all means, sue them.
Otherwise, let it be . . .
