True, but does the IIGS supply different scan rates through its
Composite and RGB connectors? 

I don't think so, because this would mean that there are two independent
video circuits in the IIGS. IIRC the composite signal is formed by a
MC1377 matrix from the RGB components. 

Next weekend I will get my frequency counter and check this.
