I don't think you need to be that paranoid about leaving out your
credit card number. I've done that many times for about a decade now
- not to "random" sites but to sites I decided to trust. Before ca
1994 I sent it to email addressed instead -- unencrypted, over the
Internet (back then, the Internet was, by today's standard, a very
decent place though). So far I've encountered no ill effects from
doing this.

The registration fee IS $25 !!!! I registered this program myself some
2 days ago, and paid only $25. Yes, I gave them my credit card number
and it worked fine -- within about 15 minutes I had my registered version,
MUCH MUCH faster than if I had messed with checks.
Don't be that paranoid about giving out your credit card number over
the Internet! It's probably riskier to pay by credit card on a
restaurant -- but perhaps you refuse to do that either....
