I used the cheapest (~$25) composite to VGA converter I could find on
eBay without issue.  The build quality is poor, but it works.  80
column is readable; games look great.  However 80 column is not going
to be as crisp as a monitor.

I've also tried the cheapest (~$25) composite to USB video capture
dongles.  This is nice option since I can capture video and not have
to drag out a monitor.  However, while the 80 column is readable, it's
not very enjoyable.  There are probably a number of settings or better
capture software I could experiment with.

The .mov files were captured from the EasyCAP.  The comptovga.jpg
picture was taken with my iPhone 4.  It actually looks better in
person.  I just used the default comptovga settings.  There are a
number of settings for screen resolution, etc...  When I got my
first //c (about 2 years ago), this was my primary monitor (17" IBM
LCD") and it worked great for all modes.
