Well, it isn't always that simple. Sometimes, in hind sight, I realize that
I could have payed more, and probably would have paid more if I had known in
advance... The truth is, that is what I usually do anyway -bid what I can
pay and hope for the best, and I have about a 60/40 average of winning the
bid.
The other problem is that, after building my collection, the only things
that I want are the same items that every other Apple II collector wants.
The same items that are bid up to high prices, like this HS SCSI card.

Yeah, it can be dangerous. There have been numerous times when I've bid up
an item, incrementally, just to see if I can win with my next bid, or the
next, and so on. Usually, I stop after it hits a ridiculous price -after my
brain wakes up again but then I feel sorry for the sucker who put the high
bid in (but not "real" sorry.)
