The newsletter is for both the Mac and GS. I wonder how much interest
there would be in that. 12 pages and the GS gets 2 or 3. I write most of
what's in it and will have to rely more heavily on online posts.
I have the last Apple Sac Newsletter. The editor says he used to log onto
Genie and in less than two hours download the DOM and the monthly
GenieLamp Magazines for the Mac and Apple II. In the end it took him days
of tedious work to search the internet for interesting reprintable
material. He didn't have the time or other support to do it anymore. The
last Apple Sac newsletter was November 1996. We haven't been faring much
better. Matthew wrote a lot of really good things his tenure as GS SIG.
A page at best of origional material. I don't have the experience or
knoweldge to do that. We encourage other members to write. We ask for
something simple like writing about a favorite program. No response.
It used to be that the club was focused on software and gadgets. We
sometimes got discounts on things through a group purchase. There was less
realiance on the internet in those days. The GS SIG made a mint of money
on the DOM.
Today one piece of software is a big deal. We did get a video tape of Joe
Kohn's presentation last meeting. There was a second video cam but no one
to work it so we have a video of the GS monitor for 2 hours and Joe's
voice. I think it is worth rendering to an audio tape for the commentary.
I need to review it and get a final time before I do more with it. I wish
I knew more about using the video digitizer and video overlay cards and
Hyperstudio. That way we could beef up the video. Maybe put a picture
of Joe in it. All we captured was a silhouette of his hair for posterity
:-)
We do have a video library for the GS.
