Hook up the composite video out of the IIgs (the RCA connector on the
back panel by the ADB port) to the composite video input of your TV.
If your TV doesn't have video inputs, hook it up to the video input of
a VCR connected to your TV (make sure you've set the VCR to line or
aux input and hit the VTR or VCR button on the VCR and have you TV set
to the appropriate channel).
This way you can check to see if the IIgs is putting out any video at
all and see if it is actually making it through the entire boot
process.
If the IIgs appears to be working fine, then you'll need to check your
IIgs monitor and the cable you use to attach it to the IIgs. One of
the simplest things you can check is that you didn't accidentally turn
the contrast or brightness controls on the side of the monitor all the
way off.
