I'm not intentionally posting this to stir the fires but I thought the
general public might like to know what Howard Katz had to say about
this situation. After all, he was the one who talked to the copyright
owners and got them to reclassify BeagleWriteGS as freeware so he
would be the one to know.

Here is a quote from an e-mail I got from Howard about the Freeware
release notice that is included in all the reclassifications obtained
by the Lost Classics Project:

Please note that this notice was what was approved and
requested for each release by Mark SImonsen. This
covers all the titles that B.Bros held direct copyright
to. For those titlese that were copyrighted by
individual programmers, I either have, or am in the
process of contacting these folk to get releases for
their titles. So far, none of the people I've contacted
have NOT wanted such a notice placed in the archive, and
each of them have approved the wording prior to public
    release.

and here is what he had to say about Mr. Turley making a version of
the program, without the notice, available to the public:

If Tom Turley is going ahead and posting some of the
software without the freeware notices requested by the
authors/copyright holders, this is in violation of the
agreements I have with those folk and could possibly
cause the freeware status to be revoked.

I still have yet to check to see if the Beagle desk accessories or
BeagleDrawGS have been reclassified yet.
