     You can do this using a pair of IIgs programs. SuperConvert will let you
go from .gif to super-res. The Graphic Exchange (TGE) will let you go from
super-res to hires.

     The quality of your results will depend upon things like the size and
number of colors in the original .gif. The smaller and simpler the original,
the better the hires result will be.

     Yes, it would. I do not know of such a program. However, using a program
like PaintShop-Pro on the PC, you can do a lot to simplify conversions-- like
you can experiment with reducing size and number of colors in a .gif pic before
transferring it to your IIgs.
