But it used to be a commercial program that was only available from
retail outlets or directly from Bill. Now it is a commercial program
that is available from retail outlets (if you can find it :), directly
from Bill or from authorized web sites.
He changed the orginal license agreement. As the license agreement
covers all three of the points that I mentioned, I guess you could
call the license agreement the classification.

In the case of DiversiTune I would classify it as commercial with
exceptions.
In the case of HyperCardGS and System 6.0.1, I would classify them as
Apple does which is as System Software (copyrighted and free but with
restricted distribution).
Another point in favour of my definition is in most, if not all, the
Lost Classics stuff that was made available on Genie. They had
distribution restrictions that said they were only to be made
available from Genie. To make those available elsewhere will require
that permission is obtained to allow distribution other than through
Genie.
There are probably a lot of people that didn't have Genie accounts
that would love to know that the distribution methods for a certain
title has changed so that they will know that they can legally
download it from another place. Would it not be easier to mark that
archive as a new reclassification so that people can find it easier
even though the only thing that has changed is the distribution
methods?
It just makes sense to me.
