Re: AppleWorks GS

Opps - Sorry Bev, but it seems that the above "quotes" aren't very clear
as to what I earlier said, and what you said. I hope my response is
clear, however.

Using terms can be helpful, and harmful, in a debate. Calling someone a
"vogon" or "pirate" or "thief" or "vandal" helps to pigeon hole someone,
but pigeon holes don't always fit, do they?

BTW, I'm using "Vandal" in reference to the Germanic tribe that looted
the accumulated wealth of Classical civilization (the Roman empire),
because those accused of piracy, from the perspective of the "vogons",
are looting the wealth of a classical period of the personal computer
age. Part of the attraction to the Apple ][ for me is the burst of
creativity that happened because of and around the Apple ][. The 8 bit
apples and their software are crude by today's standards, but those
standards wouldn't exist if it hadn't been for the Apple ][ and the men
and women who pushed that machine to it's limits and beyond. I think it
is really neat to read/hear how Woz was thrilled by people doing things
with his creation that even he didn't think it could do. I would love to
see the energy given here to putting people down, diverted to the
continued development of the ][. Unlike the early 80's, no will get rich
doing that, they probably won't even break even, but it seems to me that
that is a more worthy goal than the feud.
