If the IIc has the original firmware release, then it doesn't have a
proper self test.  It just displays a graphical pattern and keeps
running forever.  A full test was provided in the revised IIc firmware
(the "Unidisk" revision).

To check which firmware version is present, get into BASIC and type

PRINT PEEK(64447)

If it prints 255 then you have the original firmware and no self test.
If it prints 0, 3 or 4 then you should have a working self test that
will display a result.
