2GS Hard Drive

I bought a 2GS today with 1.25 mb of memory at my local Goodwill store
for $2 and bought the apple color RGB monitor along with it for $10.
They also had an old 20 mb Mac external  hard drive that hooks into the
macs floppy drive port ($2 for this one). I hooked the hard drive into
my mac IIsi and it works great. It has a bunch of old games and apps in
sys6. I tried to run this hard drive on the 2GS through it's floppy port
but slotscan and copyIIplus wouldn't recognize it. Neither copyIIplus or
GS system utilities would format or even recognize it. How do I format
this drive for use in my 2GS?
