With some cable modem providers it might be possible if they assign
you a static IP address but even then I'm not 100% sure.

My cable modem provider, Shaw@Home, uses DHCP for generating a dynamic
IP address when you connect and there is currently no DHCP client
software for the Apple IIgs so use these cable modem services
directly.  The only way to handle this situation is to network the
IIgs to another computer that will act as a gateway to the cable
modem's internet connection.  There are several different ways of
doing this.

Eventually I'll be getting another PC compatible that I'll be setting
up as a Linux box to act as the gateway through my cable modem for the
rest of the computers I have set up.
