In Michigan we have the MEAP (Michigan Education Assesment Program) test.
You take it in the 4th, 6th, and 10th grades. You must get a passing score
on the 10th grade exam (or retake until you do) to get a state certified
diploma but you can still graduate without it. There was talk of changing
this when I was in school so it may be required now.
