But there is one huge difference, your $700 Lisa was a mass produced product
less than 20 years ago. The $100 000.00 painting is usually an original piece,
and was probably produced well over two decades ago. Same goes for the Apple
II and II+.
As for utility, some of these old computers are very useful. For example,
the IIe with an 80 column card is an excellent word processor, useful
spreadsheet and entertaining games machine. Yet it still is not worth
much more than $25 if it comes with a good colour composite monitor. Let's
face it, these computers are much more useful in the hands of people who
can not afford the latest $1000 machine. And that is where they shoud go,
and not to collectors.
Oh, and hobbiest that still enjoy playing with these old machines should
still have the opportunity to do that too.
But that is my opinion.
