Since there technically is no Apple II portable, I can only assume that the
machine you speak of is not an Apple II, and hence you are in the wrong group.
Assuming you have a PC notebook, you can usually take it apart and flip a dip
switch to clear the password.  Where the switch is and what to do with it
depends of the model.  I suggest visiting the website of the company which
built the machine.
