Unless someone installed this ROM version on an older motherboard
(possible, but mostly pointless).

No, you have the memory expansion IIc with bug fix firmware. (Again,
this ROM could be installed in an older motherboard.)

The clock frequency correction on the serial ports is a pure hardware
mod, and cannot be detected via a PEEK.

If the motherboard really does have the memory expansion slot, then it
will also have the correct serial port clock frequency, but there was
also an earlier motherboard revision (supplied with the UniDisk firmware
release) which included the clock frequency modification.

So:

If you have the original ROM (255), you almost certainly don't have the
serial port hardware fix, unless the board has been hacked to include
it.

If you have the UniDisk ROM (0), you might have a motherboard with the
fix preinstalled, but there is no way to be certain short of timing the
serial communications or having a close look at the motherboard.

If you have the Memory Expansion ROM (3 or 4), you almost certainly have
the serial port hardware fix (unless the ROM has been unnecessarily
installed in an older motherboard).

If you have a IIc+ (5) then your serial ports have just the right speed.
