The problem is getting a little clearer. Thanks to Tom, I downloaded the
un-Shrink program for my Mac. I unshrank some .shk files, ran them through
ProType, and copied them to my ProDOS partition. To my surprise, some of them
worked, but none perfectly. I can see the files now with a CAT command, but not
in the (someone help me here) "finder" or "launcher" interface I get when I type
BYE at the prompt.

Dunno about that one.

The software that comes with the //e card has four files: ][e startup (Mac), ][e
prefs (Mac), PRODOS.SYSTEM (A][), and BASIC.SYSTEM (A][).

Yes, the //e card can indeed use 3.5" diskettes formatted at 800k. 1.4Mb is out
of the question. To my knowledge, no Apple II can read them. I've got to find a
5.25" drive that I can use. The Apple manual is vague. The //e card can use a
"white UniDisk 3.5" and a "gray Apple Disk 5.25." Those are the only two external
drives compatible.
