FYI, I just bought a DS1216E from Jameco and it is working wonderfuly
in my IIc+. They actually were on sale at 15.95(US). They usually sell
for about 19.95 in the Jameco catalog.
I agree with David. Don't fool around with the old chip...just replace
it.
