Different versions of ROM 01 GS?
Hmm, well here's the thing. I have two IIgs...es<?>...here.
Both are ROM 01s, but one has a fan on the Power supply, and connectors
for Power, Keyboard, and Numeric Keypad right on the board (IIe legacy, it
looks like) the second has no fan on the PS and has solder pads where all
those connectors were. Which one is newer and/or 'better'? I'm guessing
the one with the connectors is the older version, perhaps even to
'upgrade' a IIe if you have the right pieces like the plate for the bottom
or something...but, I wondered if there were and mid-rom revision
revisions...like 'oh, well you know the one with the connectors has that
serial port bug' or 'well, on the one where they removed those connectors
there was a small bug where you couldn't use the UltraSpiffy SuperCharging
RAM Blazing II card in it'...Anyway, just checking, I was curious.
Oh, and the 7-pin connector at J25 is for the Ensoniq, right?
PS: this may be a lame question, but I haven't tried it yet and I _just_
got this IIgs (I've had them before but I never thought of this and all
I've had for a while are IIes)...but if I put a card into a slot which is
also a port, the port doesn't get locked out unless I start using the
slot, right? I mean, if I set the slot that the...um...mouse port is in,
to have, say, a PCT in it, since I'm never going to use the mouse in PCT,
and the PCT won't be active when GSOS is, it will coexist fine, right? Or
am I missing something...and does this apply to all ports/cards...?
