At one time, lots of users bought Memory Expansion boards which
could hold 4MB and added 1MB banks as they could afford the RAM. Today,
Memory Expansion boards are either the old Apple 1MB board or a fully
populated 4MB board (which may be expandable to 8MB). When someone says
a program "needs" 4MB they usually mean you need to have a 4MB board
plugged in.

Wolf-3D wants to run under System 6.0.1 which, by itself, takes up
a fair chunk of RAM-- like 1.6MB for a good installation. Altogether,
the whole thing, Sys6 + Wolf-3D, still needs a good deal less than 4MB.

As I recall, the PC version was for DOS; so, typically, it would
run on a 4MB machine. To get a comparison with a GS System 6 setup, you
need to run the game under Windows 95. Windows 95 barely functions on an
8MB machine.
